3RD STREET WATER LINE REPLACEMENT PHASE 1 5TH AVENUE TO SIXTH STREET 1. Construct 12” pipe from starting with a 12” valve just south of the existing line on 5th Avenue to the cross and valve assembly lying 6’ north of the existing pipe on 6th Avenue 2. Pressure test this section 3. Make tie-in to existing line at 5th Avenue a. Use a temporary 12” tee and 2 - 8” valve assembly in line with the existing pipe. This assembly would move to the north if the future 12” pipe was to run 4’ south of the north curb line on 5th Avenue. b. Using a 12” X 8” cross and 4 valve assembly 6’ north of the existing water line. This option would setup for the future line on 5th Avenue at 6’ north of the existing pipe. 4. Cap off existing lines on 6th Avenue and construct through this section 5. Construct 12” pipe from just south of the existing line on 6th Avenue to a point just north of the existing line on 7th Avenue. 6. Pressure test this section of pipe 7. Make tie-in to existing line at 7th Avenue a. Using a 12” X 8” cross and valve assembly in line with the existing 8” water line. This option would leave open as to where the future line would run on 7th Avenue would run either 6’ north or south of the existing line b. Using a 12” x 8” cross and valve assembly at a point either 6’ north or south of the existing line. This option locks in the future alignment either down the center of the travel lane or squeezed in between the existing water line and the curb. c. Either a. or b. extend the new 12” pipe south to a point out of 7th Avenue and cap for future tie-in to the south. 8. Make tie-ins to existing lines at 6th Avenue
